I think smart fridges are garbage after my ice maker died twice in 3 months.

It cost me $150 for the first repair and then the compressor went out a month later, so I unplugged the whole thing and went back to a $20 cooler for drinks - has anyone else just given up on these expensive appliances?

I'll be honest, I used to think people were just being dramatic about smart fridges. I had a Samsung for about two years, thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then the ice maker started making this godawful grinding noise and stopped working entirely. The repair guy told me it was a known issue with the motherboard, not even the ice maker itself. Cost me almost $300 to fix and it died again six months later. I finally yanked that thing out and bought a basic fridge with just a freezer on top. No Wi-Fi, no touchscreen, no garbage. My beer stays cold and that's all I need.

The motherboard thing is such a scam, that's wild lmao. Nothing beats a basic fridge that just works.
