TIL a client's skin reacted way better to a gel cleanser than my usual cream one.
I had a client with oily, sensitive skin and had to pick between starting with my standard cream cleanser or trying a new gel formula I just got. I went with the gel, and her redness calmed down a lot faster than it usually does. Has anyone else seen gel work better for that specific skin type?

Was the gel cleanser maybe a lower pH than your usual cream one? That's a thing a lot of people don't check, and it can make a huge difference for sensitive skin that's acting up. Like paul117 asked about the brand, but the formula's acidity might be the real key. A gel that's closer to skin's natural pH won't strip as much, so it can calm redness way faster than a cream that might be more alkaline. It's not always about the texture, even though that helps with oil.

I read that gel cleansers sit better on oily skin because they balance pH without over-stripping.
