Remembering a bad reaction to a glycolic peel back in my home salon days

A client in my old chair in Akron turned bright red halfway through, so I stopped and just used a cool compress and aloe for like 20 minutes. Anyone have a go-to calming product for when things get too spicy?

Stopping the peel was the right call, not just a pause.

Colloidal oatmeal gel is smart, but plain refrigerated aloe vera works better for compromised skin.

Yeah, and like mila_craig4 said, stopping it completely was key. Something I don't see talked about enough is checking what they used at home before the appointment. That client might have used a retinol cream or a physical scrub the night before and just forgot to tell me. The skin barrier could have already been weak. My go-to now is a plain colloidal oatmeal gel straight from the fridge, it's boring but it doesn't add any more possible irritants.
