I was steaming faces for way too long and didn't know it

A client in my Seattle studio last month said her skin felt tight and dry after our session, which never happens. I checked my timer and realized I'd been steaming her for a full 12 minutes out of habit, when 8 is really the sweet spot for most skin types. It was a total lightbulb moment that I was overdoing a basic step. Has anyone else had to shorten their steam time after seeing a reaction?

Totally get this. I used to believe longer steam times were better for opening pores. Seeing that same tightness on a few clients last year made me rethink everything. Now I watch their skin during the steam, not just the clock. Cutting back those few minutes really improved how their skin felt after extractions too.

Used to steam way longer myself... this made me reconsider.

Did you find your clients were more sensitive after winter? I had to cut back to six minutes for a while because the heated indoor air was already drying. It made a real difference in their comfort.
