Bought a $40 facial steamer that turned my bathroom into a sauna
I thought it would be a nice add-on for at-home clients, but the thing put out so much steam it set off my smoke alarm. Anyone have a good brand that doesn't create a cloud you can get lost in?

Doesn't a moderate steam do the same job as a face full of fog? It might be a feature for some, but if it's setting off detectors in a small room, that's just bad design for a lot of people. A little less fog and a lot less hassle seems like a fair trade to me.

That sounds like a feature, not a bug. A good steamer should put out a solid amount of steam to actually open pores. Maybe just crack a window or turn on the bathroom fan first. What kind of results were you getting before the alarm went off?

Oh man, that's so true about things being a feature not a bug. I see this all the time with kitchen gadgets now. My new blender is so powerful it sounds like a jet engine, which is annoying, but it actually crushes ice perfectly. They design for maximum effect now and just assume we'll deal with the side effects. What's one appliance you've had that was like that?
