PSA: I finally got a stubborn hoistway door interlock on a 90s Otis to cooperate by tapping the roller guide with a rubber mallet instead of forcing it.

After three tries with a pry bar just made it bind worse, a light tap on the top of the guide with my 2-pound mallet seated it perfectly and saved me an hour of cussing.

Watched my buddy fight a similar door for twenty minutes last week. He finally gave the bottom roller a solid whack with his boot heel and it clicked right in. Sometimes the direct force just needs a different angle.

Totally get that. My sliding patio door was doing the same thing all last summer. I lifted it and shoved it a dozen times with no luck. Ended up kicking the frame near the bottom track just out of frustration and it slid like it was brand new. Those little rollers just need a good shock sometimes to get back in line.

Nice! A little shock goes a long way. @henry_webb68 is right, sometimes you just gotta give it a good whack.
