My new magnetic level gave me a false reading on a 1980s Otis controller

I was setting up the guide rails in a Portland office building last week, and my new digital level showed everything was perfect. When we ran the car, it had a bad sway and we found the level was being thrown off by the strong magnets in the old motor generator. Has anyone else had a tool fail because of magnetic interference on a job?

Read an NTSB report that blamed magnetic interference for an elevator crash.

Old magnetic fields will mess with any digital tool.

Guess that explains why my phone always dies at my grandma's house.
