Felt like I was filming a documentary, not fixing an elevator.

My friend did something similar trying to find a leak behind his washing machine. He had his phone on a stick and was narrating the whole thing like a true crime podcast, talking about the "mystery of the missing seal." It was the most tense home repair I've ever watched. He almost dropped his phone into the drain pan twice. That mental picture from young.val is exactly right, it's all fun until you're holding your breath hoping your grip doesn't slip.

Filming a documentary is such a funny way to put it, that's perfect. I just got this wild mental picture of you doing a whole nature show voiceover about the "elusive faulty wire." @brown.reese, that would make me so nervous, holding my phone back in some dark panel hoping I don't drop it.
