Just fixed a weird door lock issue at the old hospital downtown

Got a call for a stuck car at St. Mary's. The doors would open about two inches and then stop. Felt like a binding issue. Checked the sill and found a bent guide shoe bracket, probably from a hard hit. Had to pull the door panels to get at it. Straightened it with a mallet and a block. Took about an hour total. Anyone else run into a bracket bending like that without a full derail?

Ever think a small part like that couldn't cause such a big problem? I used to assume it was always the track or rollers first, but a bent bracket on a van last year proved me wrong. It's crazy how one little piece can lock up the whole system.

Had to replace a whole bracket once, it was just toast.

See that a lot with old stuff, small problems hiding behind bigger symptoms.
