A 15-year-old door operator gave out on me at the old Franklin Hotel downtown
It was a Gal door operator, model 2000 series. The motor just quit during a busy lunch hour last Tuesday. I had to bypass the safety circuit to get the car moving and then swap the whole unit. Anyone dealt with a sudden failure on one of these older units before?

Bypassing the safety circuit is wild, I used to think that was a big no-go.

Nah, I get where @simonmoore is coming from, but sometimes you gotta do it to diagnose the real problem. It's a solid way to check if the safety switch itself is the fault or if something else is tripping it. Just gotta be smart and not leave it bypassed for good.

Honestly, @river_gonzalez66 has a point, but man, I once saw a guy bypass a safety and fry his whole control board.
