Finding parts used to mean raiding junk piles.

Now I just order online and wait. It's easier for sure. But I miss the thrill of digging through junk.

You mentioned "the thrill of digging through junk." That physical hunt gave you a real connection to the part and its history. Clicking a button just gives you a clean box and a severed link to where things come from.

@mia_park, you're right about how clicking a button loses the history. I found that taking the time to hunt in person, like at garage sales, makes the part mean more. That dirty, found object vibe just adds soul to a build.

Ever notice how this happens with everything now, not just parts?
