Watched a DIY video where they twisted wire nuts on without stripping the insulation first
I mean, it was a big channel with like half a million subs, and they just twisted the nut right over the plastic jacket. That's a fire waiting to happen, not a solid connection. How do these videos get so many views without anyone calling out the basic stuff?

Half a million subs and nobody in the comments section caught that? What kind of wire were they even using, like a lamp cord or actual house wiring? The scary part is how many people will just copy what they see without knowing it's wrong.

Saw a DIY channel last year where they used speaker wire for an outlet... that's just asking for a house fire.

Honestly though, is it really that big of a deal? Speaker wire is still copper, it's just a thinner gauge. For a small lamp or something it might be fine. People get way too worried about this stuff. Tbh most DIY folks are just plugging in a phone charger, not running a space heater. The risk seems pretty overblown to me.
