Serious question, thinking back on a client who wanted old knob and tube left in place
Years ago, I worked on a remodel where the owner loved the character and didn't want to replace the original wiring. It was still kinda working, but I knew it wasn't safe for today's loads. Ever face a situation where preserving history clashes with current code?

Almost burned down my own demo house arguing about old wiring.

In my state, the 2017 NEC code clearly said knob and tube must go during any remodel. Did you ever show them pictures of real fires from old wiring? Seeing the damage can make the danger real for them. People often don't get the risk until they see what can happen. It's hard to balance keeping history safe and making things safe now. How do you deal with clients who get upset about losing the old stuff?
