I thought those new push-in wire connectors were just a gimmick until I had to rewire a whole apartment building in Chicago.

They're a total game changer for old work boxes packed with cloth wire. The push-in side handles the brittle old stuff without fraying, and you can still use the screw terminals for new solid wire. Saved me hours of frustration on a similar job.

My buddy Jake, a contractor up in Milwaukee, swore by the old twist caps until his last job. He had a whole floor of knob and tube to deal with, and the cloth insulation was just crumbling. He was about to lose his mind until he tried those push-in connectors. Totally saved his sanity, and he said the same thing @elizabethblack did about using both sides. He finished two days early, which never happens.
