Finally figured out why my 3-way switch calls were taking forever

My boss pointed out that for 15 years I've been tracing the wrong traveler wire first, which he noticed when I spent 45 minutes on a simple Reno kitchen install last Tuesday.

Broken switches are just the start. The real damage is losing half an hour you can't bill for. Time isn't free, even if the part was.

You asked if it actually broke anything. That's the wrong way to look at it. Wasting 45 minutes on a simple job is a real problem. It costs money and makes the whole day run late. It's not about breaking a switch, it's about breaking your schedule and your profit on the job.
