I keep seeing people on here saying get 3 quotes for every little thing. Last month I needed a guy to fix a cracked sidewalk slab in front of my house near Whyte Ave. Called 4 contractors, 3 never showed up to even look at it, the 4th quoted me $150. Then I just called a concrete guy I used 2 years ago for a patio, he came same day and did it for $80 cash. My point is for jobs under $500, you're wasting time chasing multiple quotes. Just ask neighbors who they used or stick with someone who already proved reliable. Has anyone else noticed the good smaller contractors don't bother with quote requests from new people?
Buddy of mine bailed on a camping trip last summer. Texted me at 3 AM the night before. Said he "forgot" he had to housesit for his mom's cat. I drove three hours to the spot alone. Set up his tent by myself in the dark with a half-dead flashlight.
