Picked up an old medical book from 1923 at a flea market in St. Louis for $3

I found this beat up old home doctor book from 1923 for three bucks. The wildest thing in there was a treatment for hiccups that said to scare the person by firing a gun near their head. No joke, it was an actual suggestion in the chapter on stomach issues. Has anyone else found old medical advice that makes you glad you live in this century?

Three bucks for a cure that basically says "hold my beer and watch this" is a steal. At least now we just get jump-scared by WebMD telling us we have a brain tumor from hiccups.
