My $5 toaster from the thrift store finally gave out after 3 years (and I'm glad it did)

I know everyone loves finding those old appliances that last forever, but honestly, I was tired of that thing. It would burn one side and leave the other pale no matter what setting I used. Last Tuesday it just stopped working mid-cycle, smoke puffing out the top. I didn't even try to fix it, just tossed it in the e-waste bin at the dump. Anyone else secretly relieved when a cheap old find finally bites the dust?

Nodded along reading this... I had this ancient toaster from a yard sale once that I swear had a personal vendetta against bagels. It'd scorch the outside and leave the middle cold and doughy every single time, no matter how many times I clicked the lever down. When it finally shorted out and shot a piece of toast across the kitchen like a frisbee, I just stood there laughing. Took it straight to the dump and bought a shiny new one that actually has a cancel button... felt like I upgraded my whole morning routine.

Got a $10 coffee maker from Goodwill that lasted 4 years and I was counting down the days until it died. It would randomly decide to brew half the pot and leave the rest cold, plus the timer never worked right. When it finally started making this weird gurgling noise and stopped working, I actually felt relieved. Bought a basic new one for $25 at Target and it's been perfect for 2 years now. Sometimes cheap old stuff is just more trouble than it's worth, especially when you're fighting it every morning.
