Bought a 1930s galvanized bucket for $12, patching leaks with JB Weld was a mistake
Last Saturday at an estate sale in Columbus the rust holes looked tiny until I filled it with water and it sprayed like a fountain. I tried patching from the inside and it held for two days before popping off, has anyone had luck with actual soldering on these or am I better off just using it as a planter?
Read somewhere that old galvanized buckets are dipped in zinc, and soldering over that is tricky without the right flux. Might be simpler to coat the whole inside with a good waterproof sealer and call it a planter.
