Found a water damaged SNES at a garage sale for $10 and it sparked a whole debate in my brain

So I was at this random sale in Akron last weekend and pulled out a crusty SNES with what looked like soda dried inside the shell. One guy said to just toss it for parts, another swore he brought a similar one back with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush. Do you guys think it's worth the time to clean up a heavily water damaged board or is it just a lost cause for most people?

Take this with a grain of salt, but a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol can work wonders if the board isn't totally fried. I've brought back a few Game Boys that looked worse than that. Just don't power it on until it's bone dry or you'll short it out for good.

Grab some 91% isopropyl alcohol and an old toothbrush you don't care about. Soak the board completely and scrub every inch, especially around the chip legs and the power connector. Let it air dry for a solid 48 hours before you even think about plugging it in. Ngl I've pulled two Game Boys and a Genesis back from way worse looking corrosion with that method, just go slow and be thorough.
