Blow into NES cartridges for 30 years until my buddy said 'you're just oxidizing the pins faster'
Was using canned air and a pink eraser on my copy of Mega Man 2 last week when he walked in and pointed out the corrosion on 3 pins, said the moisture from my breath was the real problem, anyone else been doing this wrong for decades?

Right? I literally kept a small can of air duster next to my N64 for years like I was some kind of pro technician. My poor cartridges were probably inhaling more spit than actually getting cleaned.

blow into NES cartridges for 30 years" is basically my whole childhood right there. I used to swear by it, thought I was keeping them clean. But yeah, my buddy said the same thing about the moisture and now I just use a clean microfiber cloth and some isopropyl alcohol. It sucks admitting I was wrong about something so simple.
