Ran both monitors off one HDMI cable for 6 months

Finally realized my second screen was just mirroring the first because I never checked the display settings. Has anyone else made this dumb mistake or just me?

Rookie numbers" is right. I actually read an article that said something like a third of people mess up their dual monitor setup the first time. At least you figured it out eventually, right?

Oh man, don't feel bad. I once spent three weeks wondering why my laptop screen and external monitor showed the exact same thing while I was trying to set up a dual screen for work. Realized later I had the HDMI plugged into the wrong port on my laptop. One of those moments where you just sit there and question your whole life. At least you only wasted six months, that's practically rookie numbers in the world of tech oops. Feels like half the battle with computers is just admitting you skipped reading the manual.
