A friend pointed out my monitor arms were way too low and it fixed my neck pain

I had my dual monitors sitting basically on the desk for like a year and my neck was killing me. Someone at a LAN party said they should be at eye level, raised them up about 6 inches, and the difference was instant. Has anyone else had a random piece of feedback completely change their setup?

should be at eye level" yeah that's the magic right there. I had the same thing with my main monitor it was like 4 inches below my eyeline for months and I kept leaning forward. Once I got a proper arm and raised it up to where I don't have to tilt my head down at all, my neck pain basically vanished in a week. The real trick is making sure your eyes are level with the top third of the screen, not the middle or bottom. Also check that your chair arms match your desk height, I had to adjust that too after fixing the monitor. Little stuff like that adds up fast.

Top third might be too high actually, eye level is the middle of the screen.

Ah man, I feel this so hard... I spent like a year with my monitor way too low and just lived with a constant crick in my neck. Finally got a cheap arm off Amazon and raised it up to where the top of the screen is right around eye level, and it was a game changer for sure. It's wild how just a couple inches off makes you hunch forward without even noticing.
