Why does nobody talk about the change in taping knives over the last five years?
I used a new 6 inch knife from a job box last week and it felt way different from my old one. The steel is thinner now and it flexes more on long runs. I think they changed how they make them to cut costs. Has anyone else found a brand that still uses the thicker metal?

Ugh, my coworker's new knife snapped last Tuesday!

Yeah, that thinner steel thing is real. I picked up a new one last month and it feels like a toy compared to my old knife. It just doesn't have the same backbone on a ceiling. I've been using the same brand for years and it's a bummer. I heard some guys say the older Marshalltown ones are still solid if you can find them. Makes you wonder what else they've cheapened out on.

My buddy swears the heat treat changed too, not just the thickness. Says the new ones lose their edge twice as fast on drywall tape.
