Why does nobody talk about mixing mud with a paddle bit in reverse?

I was getting lumps for months until a guy on a job in Tacoma saw me and said, 'You're spinning it the wrong way, you'll trap air.' What's the dumbest basic thing you had to be shown?

Gotta disagree a bit, @jamiemiller. The arrow on the chuck is tiny and always dirty lol. I just remember that forward on the trigger drives the screw in, pull back reverses it. Muscle memory from using it wrong for a year finally fixed it for me.

Right? The whole "lefty loosey, righty tighty" thing never clicked for me with drills... I'd just squeeze the trigger and hope for the best. I put so many screws in backwards before it finally stuck. Now I just look at the arrow on the chuck like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
