Thought I could patch a ceiling corner with a quick pre-mix, but the texture match took 4 hours

The existing knockdown was way heavier than I remembered. Ended up mixing my own mud three times to get the thickness right for the stomp brush. Anyone have a go-to method for matching old textures without a full respray?
