Spent 90 minutes fighting a corner bead that kept popping off

I was doing a basement reno in Portland and this one corner bead on a cold wall just would not stick no matter how much mud I used. Turns out the metal was flexing because the studs weren't perfectly aligned underneath. Has anyone else dealt with a bead that just refuses to cooperate and found a trick that actually works?

Screws are your friend... pre-drill and screw that sucker tight instead of relying on mud.

and frankly @martin.jamie is right. I've pulled out too many sheets of drywall that were just glued and not screwed. The glue alone won't hold up over time, especially in a garage or basement where temps change. Pre-drilling helps avoid mushrooming the screw heads too, makes the finish so much cleaner. Just grab a box of coarse thread screws and get after it, you'll thank yourself later.
