My old boss told me to always use a 10 inch knife for taping, even on small jobs.

I thought it was overkill for years and stuck with my 6 inch, but after a tricky ceiling repair in a Phoenix condo last fall, I finally tried his way. The bigger knife gave me way smoother joints with less work, and now I feel silly for not listening sooner. Anyone else have a tool tip they ignored for too long?

That bit about feeling silly for not listening sooner really hits home. I spent forever trying to cut drywall with a basic utility knife because I thought buying a dedicated jab saw was a waste. Turns out that little saw is a total game changer for small cuts and notches. Why do we always fight the simple advice from people who have clearly been there before?

Watched my buddy fight his miter saw like @laura_ross with that utility knife.
