Last Tuesday I went through 3 full buckets of mud before lunch

I had this big office build out in Arlington and the framers left me these massive gaps between boards. I mean we're talking half inch gaps in some spots on the ceiling. Normally that's a headache but I just started slapping mud on and it all went so smooth. No bubbles, no sagging, just perfect coverage. By 11 AM I had to send my apprentice back to the truck for more mud and that never happens. Has anyone else had a day where everything just clicked like that?

Wait did your buddy ever tell you about his perfect day framing? My friend Mike had this one job where he was hanging doors and everything just lined up. Like he measured once cut once and every door dropped in with no gaps no shimming no nothing. He said he even had time to clean up his mess before lunch which never happens for him. By 2 PM he was done and the lead guy just looked at him like he was some kind of wizard or something lol. But the best part was he went home early and his wife actually had dinner ready that wasn't takeout. He still talks about that day like it was a religious experience or something.

Man that feeling is rare but man is it good when it happens. The stars just aligned for you with the mud and the gaps. Sometimes you get into that zone where you just know every move you make is right. Those are the days that keep you in the trade even when the other days suck.

Had a day like that a few years back in a tight canyon. Water was running just right, not too fast, and every rock I stepped on held firm. Found a line through some willows that opened up into a clear pool with a big brown waiting. Put a hopper right in its face, and that fish took it like it was the only meal it ever wanted. Made up for the three blown trips before it.
