Switched from a single pump to a two-pump setup on my small cutterhead dredge
Honestly, I was running a single 8-inch pump for everything on a river job near St. Louis. It kept clogging on the woody debris, and we'd lose suction for an hour each time. Last month, I added a smaller 4-inch pump just for the jet water assist. Ngl, the difference was night and day. The main pump stays clear now, and we're moving nearly double the material per shift. Has anyone else tried splitting the jet and suction pumps on a smaller rig?

Thought that was overkill until I saw your results.

Remember when everyone used to try editing photos with just a basic paint program? You'd spend an hour trying to blur something and it still looked wrong. Then you get the right software and the same edit takes two clicks. That's the whole thing right there.

Nice! Isn't that how it always goes? The right tool for the job beats one tool trying to do it all.
