Something I overheard at the equipment dealer about cutterhead wear

I was waiting for parts at Thompson Supply last Tuesday and two older guys were shooting the breeze. One said he gets three full seasons out of a cutterhead before he even thinks about flipping it. I always swap mine after two years because I start seeing less production. Made me wonder if I am wasting money or if he's just running softer material than me. Has anyone else gotten way more time out of a cutterhead than you thought you could?

Oh man I feel this. I kept swapping mine every 18 months like clockwork thinking I was being proactive but maybe I just really like spending money on parts I don't need.

18 months is too short, parts today can easily go 3-4 years.
