Rant: Fog forced an early shutdown yesterday

Was out on the barge when visibility dropped to zero in minutes. Had to anchor and wait it out, which set us back half a day. What do you guys do when the weather turns like that?

Anchor and wait, it's the only safe move.

Man, that sounds rough... When the fog rolls in like that, safety has to come first... no question about it. We always have plans for zero visibility, like anchoring up and waiting it out. It's frustrating for the schedule, but better than risking an accident. Sometimes we use fog horns or radar if we have it, but if you can't see, you just can't move. Half a day setback is a pain, but it beats the alternative...

Right there with you, @victor_stone. Fog makes it all a guess. I've been out when you can't see the front of the boat from where you steer. Had to drop anchor and wait, even with radar on. Lost a full day once, but better than hitting something. You just can't rush when you can't see.
