My cutter head kept jamming on dense clay layers until I tweaked the water injection pressure.
I was about to call it a day when it hit me that a slight pressure increase broke up the clay without bogging down the pump!

Wait, in my experience just changing the pressure often moves the jam downstream.

Yeah that "moves the jam downstream" part is exactly what changed my mind. I used to think you had to stop and clear every single clog right away. Watched a maintenance guy at a plant just tweak the pressure settings instead of tearing into the line, and the whole thing pushed through to the next filter. Now I try that first every time. Saves a lot of hassle.

I once spent three hours on a clog that would have cleared itself if I'd just left it alone. Felt pretty smart that day.

So you're basically just playing hot potato with the clog. Great plan until it shows up at the next station with all its friends and a bigger problem.
