I finally stopped fighting my suction line on the old Ellicott 370

For years I'd crank the pump speed way up when we hit a dense clay layer, thinking more power was the answer. Last month on the Lake Erie project, my foreman pointed out the line was vibrating like crazy and said 'You're just shaking the good stuff right back out, Bailey.' He was right. I dropped the RPMs by 15% and the slurry consistency improved immediately. Anyone else have a similar 'less is more' moment with pump speed?

That "shaking the good stuff right back out" line is spot on. Sometimes you just need to let the pump do its work at a steady pace.

Actually meant shaking the bad stuff out. Steady flow keeps the good stuff in.

Read an article comparing it to washing sand out of a gold pan. Too much shaking just loses the gold with the dirt. A steady rinse gets you the good stuff.
