Had to pick between a full bucket change or just welding the lip back on.

The foreman gave me an hour to decide before the tide came in. I went with the weld, but the new metal didn't hold and we lost half a day. Anyone got a good source for replacement teeth in the Gulfport area?

Ever try using a backing plate with the weld?

... yeah I used to be one of those guys who'd just weld straight through thin metal and hope for the best. But then I had this rusted trailer fender that kept blowing holes no matter how I adjusted the settings. Finally tried a copper backing plate behind the joint and it was night and day difference, filled in clean with no burn through. Made me feel kinda dumb for fighting with it for so long when the fix was that simple.
