Dueling opinions on cutterhead teeth - cheap vs premium
I dropped $150 on a set of aftermarket teeth for my 12-inch dredge in Galveston last month. They wore down after 20 hours. My buddy swears by the OEM ones at $400 a set but says they last 80 hours easy. Which side do you lean on for sand and shell jobs?

Sand and shell jobs are rough on teeth no matter what you spend... I've been running a 10-inch in the Gulf for three seasons now. The cheap aftermarket ones just don't hold up in that abrasive mix, you'll be swapping them out every weekend and it eats into your time. OEM teeth cost more upfront but they save you the headache of mid-job break downs and constant changeouts. I'd say go with the premium set if you're running steady hours, the math works out about the same per hour anyway. Those aftermarket brands are fine for softer bottoms but they're not built for shell and sand day in and out.

Cheap teeth are like my ex - they don't last long and leave me digging in my pocket.
