Rant: Wasted $200 on a cheap epoxy floor coating for my garage last winter

Honestly, I thought I was being smart saving money on a budget epoxy kit from a big box store. Spent a whole weekend prepping the concrete and applying it, looked great for about a month. Then summer hit in Texas and the heat made it peel up in giant sheets. Now I gotta grind all that crap off before I can even think about doing it right with a real 2-part system. Anyone else deal with that peel nightmare or know a good brand that actually holds up in heat?

Oh man, that "peel nightmare" part hit way too close to home. I bought the same cheap big box store kit and mine started bubbling up after a few months, not even in full Texas heat but in a milder climate. Now I'm stuck with this patchy mess that looks worse than the plain concrete I started with, and I'm dreading the grinding process just like you are.

Same thing happened to me with those big box kits. "Peel nightmare" is putting it lightly, @juliawalker. That bubbling is brutal. I had patches of paint just curling up like sunburned skin. You're right, it looked way worse than the plain gray concrete. But honestly the grinding isn't as bad as you think. Rented a sander from the hardware store and it took a weekend. Still annoying though.
