Overheard a guy at the local cars and coffee talking about epoxy floor prep and it changed my whole plan
He said he spent hours grinding his concrete and still got peeling because he skipped the moisture test, so now I'm buying a $20 kit from the hardware store before I even think about laying down that expensive epoxy. Anyone else have their floor fail because they rushed the prep?

Right? I learned that lesson the hard way with my garage floor last summer. Spent a whole weekend grinding and cleaning, but skipped the moisture check and had bubbles everywhere within two months. That $20 kit would have saved me a ton of hassle and a few hundred bucks in epoxy.

Heard a similar story from my buddy Dave who tried to do his basement floor without checking for moisture first. His epoxy started peeling up in big sheets after just a few weeks, and he ended up having to rent a commercial grinder to strip it all off. Said the test kit would have been the cheapest part of the whole job.
