Found a simple way to organize my socket sets without buying a special tray

I drilled holes into a scrap 2x4 board the same size as each socket. Now they stand upright and I can grab the right one fast without digging through a pile. Has anyone else tried making their own organizer like this?

Drilled a 2x4 for sockets, that's old news. I tried that once and ended up with a board that looked like a termite colony took over. Now I just keep my sockets in an old coffee can and play socket roulette every time I need one. Adds excitement to the job.
