Just saw a blueprint framed in a pizza shop in Cincinnati
I was grabbing a slice last week and they had this huge, detailed architectural drawing of the building framed behind the counter. It was a full floor plan from 1927, with all the original plumbing and electrical runs marked. The funny part was seeing the tiny 'Pizza Oven' note someone had clearly added in pencil right over the old 'Coal Storage' area. It made me wonder how many other old buildings have their whole history on a single sheet somewhere. Has anyone else run into old plans in weird places like that?

My old apartment in St. Louis had the original 1910 blueprints rolled up in the basement. I found them when a pipe burst. The city clerk's office is the best place to look, they often have microfilm copies of permits and plans. For a small fee you can usually get a print. It's worth checking if you're curious about your own place, the layers of notes tell the whole story.

Those city archives are a goldmine for that stuff. My friend found handwritten notes from the original builder on his house plans, complaining about the cost of bricks. Those little human marks are the best part of the story.
