Cleaning out my garage, I found my first drafting kit

I was sorting through boxes and saw my old kit with triangles and scales. It took me back to using ink on mylar, where a smudge could ruin hours of work. Now, with computer programs, fixing errors is quick and easy. What parts of hand drafting do you kind of miss?

Seriously? Who misses smudging ink?

Yeah it's like missing the hiss of a cassette tape or the click of a car lock. We're losing all the little sounds and feels that came with old stuff, makes things feel less real now.

Okay, but hear me out on the ink smudging thing. For some people, that smudge was a sign of real work, like writing essays by hand (remember those days?). It added a physical touch to words that digital stuff just doesn't have. Sure, it was messy, but it felt more human, like you were actually making something. Missing it isn't about wanting a dirty page, it's about longing for that rough, hands on process.
