Can we talk about chair height and back pain from drafting all day?

I had constant lower back aches after long sessions at my drafting table. My doctor said to set my chair so my thighs are parallel to the floor and my back is supported. I got a basic adjustable stool and it really helped my posture. Taking short walks every hour also keeps the stiffness away.

Ever think your uncle on that crate just got lucky, @ward.piper?

Is chair height really that big a deal? I see @blake_murray bought into that parallel thighs thing, but my uncle drafted on a crate for decades with no pain. People used to sit on benches all day and were fine. Maybe we just need to move more, not buy special stools. It feels like making a problem where there isn't one.

That parallel thighs tip from your doctor saved my back too.
