A senior drafter told me my layers were a mess and it snapped me out of bad habits
I used to just dump everything on one or two layers because I was lazy. After he showed me his file with 15 different layers for just the electrical stuff, I spent 3 hours reorganizing my current project and now I can actually find things in half the time. Has anyone else had a coworker call them out on something they thought was fine?

Man that coworker did you a solid honestly. I had a senior guy at my old shop stop me mid trace and ask if I even knew what layer visibility was. I was just throwing everything on layer 0 like a complete animal. He made me watch him set up a template with separate layers for hatches, dimensions, notes, and like three different lineweights. It felt like getting scolded by a parent but now I can't even look at my old files without cringing. Took me about two days to fully clean everything up and now my files actually make sense to other people too.

Man that senior guy sounds like he saved you a lot of headaches down the road. I had a similar thing happen but with electrical schematics instead of CAD layers. My old boss just came by my desk one day, looked at my spaghetti pile of wires and said "you ever heard of a ladder diagram?" Proceeded to spend the next hour redrawing my whole setup in front of me while I just sat there feeling like an idiot. Now I can't even look at a messy schematic without twitching. Funny how a little bit of shame early on can make you way better later. @xena_miller31 your coworker sounds like they actually cared about you getting it right even if it stung a bit at first.
