A senior drafter at my old firm said my section views were 'confusing as a subway map'.
He pulled me aside after a project review and pointed out I was using way too many hatch patterns in a single drawing. I switched to just three basic fills for concrete, earth, and steel, and the clarity improved a ton. Do you have a hard limit on how many hatch types you use in one view?

Confusing as a subway map" is a bit much, right? I get that too many hatches can be messy, but is there really a hard limit? Sometimes you need more than three to show different materials clearly.

Just use a clear legend and it's fine.
