A client in Phoenix pointed at a tiny detail on my site plan and asked 'what's that for?'

It was a standard utility stub-out symbol I'd used a thousand times, but his question made me realize I was just copying old details without really thinking. I had to stop and actually explain the water line connection, which was a good reminder to check my own assumptions. Do you ever find yourself on autopilot with standard details?

Ugh, I do that with cooking recipes all the time.

Actually, @robinson.holly, I always follow recipes exactly. The first time I make something, I measure every teaspoon and cup. It's the only way to learn what the dish is supposed to be before you start changing it. You can't know the rules you're breaking until you've tried them.

Oh man, same here! I got this pasta recipe from a friend and she said to use a specific brand of canned tomatoes. I was like nah, any brand will work. Yeah, no, the sauce came out way too watery and bland. It was a total bomb. Now I always, always follow the ingredient list to the letter the first go around.
