My $1.25 broom handles lasted about 20 minutes of sweeping

Grabbed one of those skinny plastic brooms from the dollar store last Tuesday because my good one finally gave out. First sweep in the garage hit a pebble and the handle snapped clean in half right at the ferrule. Took me 20 minutes to get the head unstuck from the handle piece and another 15 to find the super glue that also cost a buck. Has anyone else had better luck with any dollar store broom brands or is it just a lost cause?

Did you try bending the metal ferrule back with pliers or just toss the whole thing?

Didn't I use to be the type to just throw things away without even trying to fix them? I would have tossed the whole thing without a second thought, but after reading your post it made me stop and think. I've got a pair of old pliers in my toolbox that I never use, so why not give it a shot before trashing something? It's surprising how often a simple bend or twist can save you from buying a whole new item. Honestly, your approach changed my mind on a lot of little repairs around the house.
