The golden retriever that taught my lab a bad habit in 3 minutes flat

I was at Riverside Dog Park last Saturday morning, just letting my dog Oscar sniff around like usual. This big golden named Cooper comes barreling in and immediately starts rolling in every mud puddle he can find. Before I could even call Oscar back, he joined in and they both emerged looking like swamp monsters covered in black muck. I spent a full 40 minutes hosing him off in the parking lot while Cooper's owner just laughed and said "they're having fun." Has anyone else dealt with a dog picking up a gross new hobby from another dog at the park?

Used to blame the owners but honestly dogs just love being gross together.

Hear you on that Claire378, but I gotta ask - is there a limit to how gross you'd let your dog get before stepping in? My neighbor’s lab rolled in something dead the other day and she just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. I think owners still have some blame if they don't at least try to stop the really nasty stuff, like rolling in a dead fish or something. Would you draw the line at anything specific, or do you just let them have at it until they start smelling up the house?

Dead fish or anything clearly rotten is where I draw the line. One good roll and that smell gets baked into their coat for days no matter how much you wash them. Best trick I picked up is carrying a travel sized bottle of Nature's Miracle just in case, stops the stink from setting in fast.
