That one lady at the dog park told me I was ruining my puppy's training

So last Tuesday I'm at Riverside Dog Park with my 5 month old lab mix Charlie and this older woman walks up while I'm giving him treats for sitting. She straight up says I'm rewarding him at the wrong time and he's gonna think sitting = treat always, not listening. I was kinda mad at first but then I watched her work with her border collie and she was right. Now I mix up commands and only reward like every 3rd or 4th time he does it right. Has anyone else had a random stranger give advice that actually worked out better than your usual method?

Was this lady secretly a dog trainer in disguise? That's wild she just dropped knowledge on you like that at the park. Honestly most people who give unsolicited advice are just annoying. But sounds like she knew her stuff. I've had that happen once with a dude at the hardware store who told me I was using the wrong drill bit. Felt dumb but he was right. So yeah random strangers sometimes save us from ourselves.

Ain't it funny how the universe sends you the exact person you need at the exact wrong time?
