Rented a tile saw for $45 and it beat my manual cutter by a mile

I needed to retile my small bathroom floor here in Portland. Thought I could save money by using my old manual snap cutter from a garage sale. After fighting with angled cuts and chipped edges for two hours, I gave up and rented a wet saw from Home Depot for $45. The difference was night and day - clean cuts in 30 seconds and zero waste. Has anyone else had a tool rental completely save a project?

My buddy tried the same thing with his kitchen backsplash. Spent a whole weekend breaking tiles and cursing. Finally dropped 50 bucks on a rental and had it done in like 3 hours. He said he wished he'd just done that from the start.

$45? That's insane. Around here a rental is usually over a hundred bucks so I'm shocked you got it that cheap. Must be a local place with some deal or maybe they had a special. Either way that's a steal. I had a similar situation with a tile saw but I paid like $80 for a weekend and still thought it was worth every penny. Your deal makes me want to check my Home Depot just in case they're running something.
