Remember when we used to measure twice cut once with a tape measure?

I spent a whole Saturday last month building a basic shelf for my garage. Back in 2005 when I started, I would mark my cut line with a pencil and just hope my tape measure didn't slip. Now I use a digital laser measure from Home Depot that cost me $40 and it's dead on every time. Has anyone else switched from the old tape method to those little laser gadgets?

victorcoleman nailed it with "tech sneaks into every corner." I picked up a Bosch laser measure last year for hanging pictures and it saved me from those times my tape measure would snap back and whack my knuckles. Only downside is the batteries die at the worst moments, like right when you're on the last cut for a project. Still keep my old Stanley tape in the drawer for backup though, some things you just can't beat with a simple tool.

Hey man, it's wild how tech sneaks into every corner of life. The tape measure to laser thing is just another example of how we're all getting more precise without even thinking about it. It makes you wonder what other old habits we're gonna drop for something quicker and easier in the next ten years lol.

Still measure twice, but my shaky hands make the first cut look like a crime scene lol.
